We’re looking for a Marketing/PR professional with good B2B copywriting skills combined with a background or degree in Engineering. We’re working with a successful manufacturing company based in West Sussex and this is a great opportunity for someone who is experienced in communicating technical concepts to a technical audience.
You will be responsible for creating high quality application engineering copy across all digital and print media, with particular emphasis on communicating the applications of products to prospective customers in a wide range of markets.
The application engineering copy will used in a range of marketing collateral including feature articles, case studies, press releases, web copy, e-newsletters and sales brochures etc to promote the company within UK, regional and international media.
You will have a technical background, ideally in engineering or physics and a proven ability for writing good technical English.
You will interface with our end-user customers, subsidiary companies, an international distribution network, and the sales and engineering teams to gather and research information for use in case studies, application engineering reports and feature articles. Another aspect of this role is to research key international market sectors to identify growth opportunities and to investigate the market potential for proposed new products.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Write and edit application engineering copy e.g. feature articles, press releases, e-newsletters, case studies, feature articles, adverts, web pages and brochures for use in both printed sources, web portals and the company websites.
• Communicate with and if required visit customers and interrogate other sources of information to research case studies and take supporting photographs and videos.
• Write detailed application case studies or application specific engineering reports that identify the customer’s issue and the solution provided.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to identify commercial market opportunities and research the target markets.
• Develop briefs and write copy for external direct mail and e-marketing campaigns and online adverts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key editors and journalists to ensure maximum coverage of copy. Monitor trade press and instigate editorial contributions to relative features.
• Work with the Website Team to develop and manage the company’s blog, Twitter and other social media sites
• Work with the Marketing Manager to organise special events e.g. webinars, distributor events and competitions.
Skills & Abilities:
• Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to easily grasp, communicate and present application engineering concepts and their benefits to capture the attention of the media.
• Excellent networking and communication skills.
• First-class people skills: ability to develop good working relationships with customers, distributors and editors.
The ideal candidate will have over two years experience in a relevant role involving technical copywriting and a qualification in engineering or physics.
