Good career opportunity for an experienced Category Marketing Manager to join a market-leading fresh and chilled food supplier based in Wiltshire.
In order to maintain the No.1 position in their category, the company invests substantially in market research to support and assist in setting their marketing plans, pricing strategy and competitor awareness. In this role you will need to be highly analytical and enjoy working with large amounts of data to provide consumer based rationale for the sales teams.
This is a broad based Category Marketing role in a £150million branded and own label business supplying primarily to the top six retailers but also to major foodservice and B2B customers.
Responsibilities will include:
• Support the annual budgeting process by providing forecasts and projection for the sales team for the market by retailer and calculations on market share performance that this delivers
• Support the sales team in general pricing rationales, i.e. price increases, competitor price modelling and market pricing
• Manage the ongoing relationships with all continuous research agencies to ensure the company remains the UK’s “knowledge leader” in their sector
• Deliver cutting edge market reviews and recommendations to improve the overall commercial offering to customers
• Deliver monthly presentations to major supermarket customers and quarterly/ad hoc presentation to smaller customers as required
• Develop relationship and knowledge of Dunhumby and other data sources in order to deliver best in class solutions
Experience required:
• Minimum of 5 years category management/continuous research experience in a chilled food environment
• Ideally a mix of brand and own label experience
• Experience of working with major UK retailers
• Ability to build and develop relationships at a senior level with customers and suppliers
• Experience of collating, analysing and interpreting wide ranging and complex data to reach actionable recommendations specifically EPOS/& panel data, and ideally conversant with LMG or Dunhumby data.
The role will be reporting to and supporting the Marketing Director in developing all other elements of the category marketing plan. You will have one direct report so will be required to put in place a personal development plan so they can build their confidence and grow in the role.
